Sex Enriches, Pornography Alienates

Pornography, easily accessible to adolescents, exposes them to scenes of violence and the absence of affection or consent. Early onset (average age 8 in Spain) increases the risk of problematic use with negative personal, emotional and social effects. Factors such as low self-esteem, poor family communication or peer pressure influence consumption. Consequences include permissive sexual attitudes, risky relationships, and academic and emotional problems. Prevention requires comprehensive sex education, family support and responsible use of technology.
