As a psychologist and mentor for parents of pubescent kids, I cannot avoid the topic of using online media. They are omnipresent and seem to be THE bone of contention in almost every family. Yet most parents like to use online media themselves … just differently! I see exactly this as one of the most important educational tasks of today: teaching media literacy. In my opinion it will not succeed through bans, router wars and rigid media times; but rather through relationships, meaningful interaction and the offering of an alternative, attractive world quite apart from Instagram, TikTok and gaming.
